In total, the industry increased by 9% when it comes to organic visibility. It may not be the biggest leap, but considering people are able to get out and about and need those bags in their hands, it makes sense. Plus, there are brands that made great leaps and bounds on this momentum.
With this said, let’s take a look at some of those brands that clutched the top spot. For starters, Cath Kidston took a 30% difference on the previous year, managing to pull ahead of the competition. Aspinal of London managed a similar feat, with 27% under their belt, and while they may not have the top spot, Cotton On took a massive leap up with a 428% rise through the ranks. If you need inspiration when it comes to improving your SEO, these are the brands to take a look at.
Some brands found themselves slipping off of the shoulders of visibility in the last 12 months, however. Matches Fashion is one of these, seeing a 12% drop in this time period. Lakeland Leather also took a tumble, with a 43% dip in visibility, but sadly it’s Firoelli who took the biggest dive at 76% down from last year. Still, it is possible to recover from this, but these brands need a little bit of adjustment to sit right in the industry once more.

There’s a big space for brands to take the plunge into specifics when it comes to their bags. A lot of the keywords we’ve found related to particular products, like laptop bags and leather backpacks to name but two examples. These kinds of opportunity keywords could help give a big boost to brands that may be lagging behind on visibility. Question is, what kind of keywords are they?
With a huge amount of search volume behind them, being specific to the niche is a key way brands can grow in this space. Investigating your lines of products and reorganising how they’re presented could be key to smashing it in the next year.
For instance, bum bags and beach bags are two listed examples with huge search volume behind them and targeting these specific areas with their own pages and informational copy could be a great way to jump ahead of the competition.
